What's The Definition of Gamay?

Gamay: Best when young, this light and fragrant wine is produced from the Gamay grape from Beaujolais France. This grape is an ancient clone of Pinot Noir and has bubble-gum, pear-like aromas. Lighter wines are made from this grape in central France, Savoie and Switzerland. In California, it is also produced as Napa Gamay.
