What's The Definition of Phenolic?

Phenolic: A group of chemical compounds known as polyphenols that have an effect on wine color, taste, and sensation. Phenols are introduced through tannins from the grape skins or through oak aging and can result in vanillin or even medicinal aromas and flavors.
