What's The Definition of Tannins, Tannic?

Tannins, Tannic: A family of organic compounds coming from grape seeds, skins and stems, or from the aging process in oak barrels. Tannins provide flavor and texture to wines and can sometimes be seen in red wines at the bottom of the bottle as natural sediment.
