Wine: 2009 Chateau L’Ermitage Rosé
Food: perfect companion to warm days, BBQ pork or chicken; lighter fare.
The wonderful pink salmon colors of this wine from the Rhone Valley add to its aesthetic appeal as a true French rosé. The first sniff reveals terroir notes of rocky mineral soils balanced with floral rose petal-like qualities. If you could smell a warm spring day in a wine this may be it. The perfect balance of Syrah, Grenache and Mourvedre bring mouth-watering strawberry flavors with the right amount of sweetness and tart at the back of the tongue. Acidity keeps the wine’s finish clean but with moderate length to complement light dishes, salads or pastas too. Even if you’ve never been to Provence or the Rhone valley, you can taste the warm sun and sea breezes of the Méditerranée captured in this wine.
We picked up this wine at Total Wine & More but it may also be found at other brick-and-mortar wine shops or online.
